Paramount Pictures is developing a live-action movie set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe together with CD Projekt Red, with veteran producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura attached.
Cyberpunk 2077 is heading to cinemas. According to a Deadline report published on 8 October, Paramount Pictures is working with CD Projekt Red on a live-action film set in the game's universe. Lorenzo di Bonaventura, whose producing credits include the Transformers and G.I. Joe films as well as the 2005 Doom adaptation, is attached as producer.
Story details have not been shared either, and neither Paramount nor CD Projekt Red has said when production might start.
The film joins a busy schedule for the series. CD Projekt has already announced a second anime season, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, and said in September that Cyberpunk 2077 and its Phantom Liberty expansion will arrive on Blizzard's Battle.net launcher later in 2026.
The news does not change anything in the game itself, but it shows how far the brand has come since its difficult launch in 2020. Six years later, Cyberpunk 2077 still sells strongly on PC: it was in the top ten of SteamDB's global Steam chart for the week of 29 September to 6 October.
