Capcom used Tokyo Game Show 2026 to confirm two returning monsters for the 2027 expansion, and announced that hunter appearance edits will become free and unlimited.
Capcom shared new details on Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, the large expansion due in 2027, during Tokyo Game Show 2026. The elder dragon Teostra was confirmed in the Capcom Spotlight broadcast on 16 September, and the series regular Khezu was revealed during a stage event at Capcom's booth on 19 September.
Capcom also announced that with the Ver. 2 update, released alongside Ascendance, players will be able to change their hunter's appearance as often as they like at no cost, in the base game as well. Distribution of Character Edit Vouchers ends on 3 December 2026; as a temporary measure, every player then receives 10 Character Edit Vouchers and 10 Palico Edit Vouchers for free.
In an interview with PC Gamer, the expansion's director said Capcom is retuning the difficulty of the endgame because players turned out to be better than the team expected. Ascendance can already be wishlisted on Steam, although, like the base game, its store page does not list Turkish among the supported languages.
